  • US Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), and Premier Healthcare Alliance Hospital Quality Incentive Demonstration (HQID) pay-for-performance project~ 2003 through 2008: SIUH tied for first place for all five years in annual incentive payments awarded for quality scores.
  • 2011 Consumer's Choice Award named SIUH Staten Islanders' preferred hospital 10 years out of the last 11.
  • SIUH received 2011 Gold Plus Award Recognition for the Treatment of Stroke: "Get with the Guidelines" the American Heart Association/Stroke Association's promotion for the latest evidence-based treatment for stroke patients.
  • In a 2011 survey published in New York Magazine's June 13th issue, "Best Doctors in New York," 17 SIUH doctors were recognized as being at the top of their field in the New York area. Those honored at SIUH represent a wide variety of specialties.
  • In 2011, SIUH was recognized as a top Community Value Hospital by Cleverly + Associates (Columbus, OH) for providing quality care while being financially accountable to patients and community.
  • The Heart Institute's services at SIUH made the Thomson Reuters Top 100 Cardiovascular Hospitals list for 2009.
  • Ranked in the 2009 America's Best Hospitals "Top 50" for Neurology/Neurosurgery in U.S. News & World Report.
  • The Healthcare Association of New York State's 2008 Pinnacle Award for Cultural Transformation to Prevent Falls and Associated Injuries in a Tertiary Care Hospital. SIUH received the premier Quality Award for Maternal and Neonatal Care in 2006.
  • SIUH earned the Best Functional Improvement Measures Award for Severe Stroke in 2006 from Uniform Data Systems.
