Rheumatology

The Division of Rheumatology offers a wide scope of services, both to the community and to the other departments within the hospital. The Rheumatology division offers consultative services to all other departments of the hospital, including Surgery, Pulmonary, Pediatrics, Radiology and Rehabilitation.

Patients of all ages with musculoskeletal disorders and connective tissue disease are served. All patients are evaluated by attending Rheumatologists who also review all care plans. Cross coverage within a group provides a check-and-balance on each attending. The division has as its mission, to provide the best possible care in a timely and cost effective manner to all patients.

Patients with SLE, Rheumatoid arthritis, Vasculitis, etc. are seen. All levels of complexity of rheumatic diseases are treated.

Three Rheumatologists provide 24 hour / 7 day- a-week coverage. Support by all ancillary services, including orthopedics, is available all of the time. The Rheumatologists follow the practice standards of the American College of Rheumatology. Support for Pediatric Rheumatology is provided by referral to the Hospital for Special Surgery.

Patient satisfaction surveys reveal a high level of satisfaction with the Rheumatology service. Quality Improvement programs also monitor the services provided.
