Our North and South site locations are recognized for excellence in comprehensive services. We are proud to serve each and every patient with the highest level of quality care. The hospital’s medical and surgical services, in both inpatient and outpatient settings, are fully equipped with leading-edge technology and committed staff members. We offer a range of specialized services to accurately treat a wide variety of medical conditions: from Cancer & Blood related diseases to Laparoendoscopic, Bariatric and Comprehensive Breast services.

Minimally Invasive

The Laparoendoscopic Surgery Center at Staten Island University Hospital remains at the forefront of this procedure and serves as a training center for surgeons developing their skills, both individually and through group conferences. In addition, members of our laparoendoscopic faculty have been selected to travel throughout the world, lecturing and demonstrating their techniques.

Ob/Gyn

The Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology offers a comprehensive variety of services to women of all ages, beginning from adolescence. These services include: primary care for women, treatment of gynecological conditions, infertility treatment, pregnancy care, gynecological surgery and cancer of the reproductive organs.

Our mission is to offer the best pediatric and children’s health care services in a safe, comfortable, and stress-free environment for your child. Everything at our pediatrics center is designed with kids in mind, from waiting rooms and play rooms, patient rooms with room for Mom and Dad, and our specially trained staff, whose goal is to be one more layer of comforting care for your child.

Surgical Services

Staten Island University Hospital and its enlarging health care delivery system offer excellent clinical and academic opportunities to provide quality clinical care in a nurturing educational environment. Under the guidance of Joseph McGinn, Jr., MD, the members of the Department of Surgery have succeeded in producing Centers of Excellence and expertise in many areas including laparoendoscopic surgery, surgical oncology, trauma, burn and surgical critical care, minimally invasive cardiac and general thoracic surgery, and surgical research. The surgical training program was expanded to include a fully-accredited vascular fellowship program.

Staten Island University Hospital's Department of Radiology combines state-of-the-art technology with a caring and professional team of specialists.

Bariatric Surgery

Welcome to the Center for the Surgical Treatment of Obesity website of Staten Island University Hospital. This website has been designed to answer questions you may have pertaining to our Bariatric Surgery Program and introduce you to our staff. You will find information on the types of procedures, risks and benefits of weight-loss surgery and find out if you are a candidate for bariatric surgery.

The Comprehensive Breast Center at Staten Island University Hospital is the first to serve the community of Staten Island in breast cancer diagnosis, treatment and research, providing the most current treatments. Our newly developed program consists of a dedicated team of specialists, nurses, nutritionists, physician assistants, patient navigators, support groups and genetic counselors.

Cancer Services

When you need treatment for cancer, and demand highly specialized care in a patient-friendly environment, Staten island University Hospital's Nalitt Institute for Cancer & Blood-Related Diseases stands alone - delivering comprehensive, personalized patient care.

ENT/Otolaryngology

Dr. David H. Hiltzik, Director of Otolaryngology and Head & Neck Surgery at Staten Island University Hospital, is a Board Certified Otolaryngologist and Head and Neck Surgeon. He treats all disorders of the ear, nose and throat and is subspecialty trained in cranial base surgery as well as facial plastics and reconstructive surgery by internationally recognized leaders in the field. Dr. Hiltzik is dedicated to providing the most current and highest level of personalized care to his patients.

If you do not have health insurance, or if you need help with paying a hospital bill, there are several ways we can help you.

The Department of Cardiology provides a wide range of cardiac diagnostic services for all age groups ranging from neonates to geriatrics.

Primary care physicians or Cardiologists may refer patients to the Department of Cardiology for diagnostic testing. Please familiarize yourself with the procedures and tests available. Primary care physicians should consult a staff cardiologist if they require more information on the utilization of a procedure for a particular patient.

Maternity

At Staten Island University Hospital, our first concern is the delivery of premier care to our patients. With over 3,000 deliveries each year, an expert staff of obstetricians, midwives, pediatricians, neonatologists and nurses are dedicated to providing quality care for mothers and infants. As a member of the North Shore-LIJ Health System, SIUH provides a safe and welcoming environment for new babies and their families.

It is our belief that all women have unique healthcare needs and that these needs can be met optimally by a center specifically designed for women. The Center provides services and programs that are tailored specifically for women and are offered in a professional and compassionate manner. Through a multidisciplinary approach, the Center provides information and education as an integral component of the plan of care. We are deeply committed to the philosophy that the customer is our reason for being and the Center continually strives to exceed our customers' expectations.
