About Avery E. Miller, MS, CGC

Cancer Genetic Counselor

Avery Miller is a board certified genetic counselor specializing in hereditary cancer risk assessment. She joined the multidisciplinary team at the Northwell Health/Florina Rusi-Marke Comprehensive Breast Center and the Hereditary Cancer Genetics Program at SIUH in 2014. On Staten Island, she is the only genetic counselor specializing in cancer. Avery works collaboratively with physicians and patients here at SIUH as well as all over Staten Island. She provides consultations for adult patients with a personal history and/or family history of cancers including breast, ovarian, uterine, colon, pancreatic cancers as well as other cancers. She believes strongly in a collaborative approach to the delivery of medical care. Avery studied genetics at Bryn Mawr College, Bryn Mawr, PA and earned a Master of Science in Human Genetics and Genetic Counseling from Sarah Lawrence College. Avery is board certified through the American Board of Genetic Counseling (ABGC) and is an active member of the National Society of Genetic Counselors (NSGC.org).

The cancer genetic counseling office is located in the office of the chief of breast surgery, Dr. Cynara Coomer, in the Florina Rusi-Marke Comprehensive Breast Center at 256B Mason Avenue, 2ndfloor (above the Breast Imaging Center), Staten Island, NY 10305
