Laura S. Kim, MD
Director of Female Pelvic Medicine and Reconstruction
In 2008, Dr. Laura S. Kim joined the staff of Staten Island University Hospital as Director of Female Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Surgery in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology. Her practice is based in the hospital's Center for Women's Health
Dr. Kim is a Board certified physician in obstetrics and gynecology and completed an accredited, three-year fellowship in her specialty at New York University School of Medicine. She completed her residency program in OB/GYN at Albert Einstein College of Medicine, Montefiore Program. Dr. Kim is a graduate of Boston University School of Medicine having completed the seven-year accelerated BA/MD Program.
She specializes in a comprehensive treatment of pelvic floor disorders, ranging from non-surgical to state-of-the-art, minimally invasive approaches to reconstructive pelvic surgery and female urinary incontinence. Her patients range from young active women to the most elderly, dealing with urinary symptoms and incontinence, pelvic organ prolapse, fecal incontinence, and birth injury.
An avid researcher, she has earned the ACOG Kenneth Gottesfeld-Charles Hobler Memorial Foundation Research Award during her fellowship training studying pelvic floor during pregnancy using 3D ultrasound. In addition, NYU's OB/GYN Department presented Dr. Kim with more than a half dozen awards for excellence in teaching during her residency and fellowship training.
