Michael A. Savino, MD, FACS
Associate Director of Urology
Dr. Michael Savino was a founding member of the Todt Hill Urologic Group here on Staten Island, and a member of Staten Island University Hospital's voluntary medical staff prior to becoming the Associate Director of Urology at the hospital's South Shore campus.
Dr. Savino has extensive experience with laparoscopic and robotic surgeries for cancerous and noncancerous diseases. He was one of the first Staten Island urologists to routinely use minimally invasive surgery.
Board certified in Urology, Dr. Savino completed his Medical School degree in 1979 at Universidad de Guadalajara in Jalisco, Mexico. He completed both surgical and urologic residencies at Maimonides Medical Center.
He is a member of numerous professional societies including a fellow at American College of Surgeons, American Association of Clinical Urologists and Society of Laparoendoscopic Surgeons.
Dr. Savino is a recipient of several awards including New York Magazine's Best Doctors, and the Cancer Awareness Award by the American Cancer Society and is active as a medical advisor. He co-authored a publication in the Journal of American College of Surgeons entitled Laparoscopic Prostatectomy and submitted another article publication in Sages: Laparoscopic Nephrectomy in Community Hospital.
