Nicholas T. Karanikolas, MD
Director of Robotic Surgery & Urologic Oncology
Dr. Nicholas Karanikolas joined the Staten Island University Hospital staff in May of 2007. Board certified, he is the director of Urologic Oncology at the
Nalitt Cancer Center and Director of
Robotic Surgery. He is an Attending Surgeon at the Brooklyn Veterans Administration Hospital and Assistant Professor in Urology in
SUNY Downstate.
Dr. Karanikolas received his Bachelors Degree in 1992 from New York University; he received his Medical Degree from
SUNY Downstate Medical Center in 1998. He completed two years of surgical training followed by four years of Urologic Surgical training at
SUNY Downstate. Upon completing his residency he commenced a two-and-a-half year fellowship at Memorial
Sloan
Kettering Cancer Center.
He has co-authored several articles and textbook chapters and presented his work at many national and international meetings.
He has diverse interests including bladder, kidney, prostate and testicular cancer.
