Abdominoplasty (Tummy Tuck)

Also known as a "tummy tuck," abdominoplasty is a major surgical procedure to remove excess skin and fat from the middle and lower abdominal area and tighten the abdominal muscles.

While a taut and toned abdomen is something many of us work toward with exercise and weight control, sometimes, despite our hard work, we can't attain what we want.

The most common causes of a protruding abdomen include:

  • Pregnancy
  • Aging
  • Significant fluctuations in weight
  • Heredity
  • Prior surgery

An abdominoplasty can dramatically reduce the appearance of a protruding abdomen and results in a smoother, flatter tummy.

According to the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, there were 149,410 abdominoplasty procedures performed in 2011.
