Dr. Nambiar brings up-to-date training to the department, and has made many contributions since joining SIUH in early 2008. He received his medical degree at the Medical College of Virginia, and then served an internship at Stony Brook University. He completed training in radiation oncology at Henry Ford Health System in Detroit, Michigan. Additional training was done at St. Jude’s Children Hospital and the Seattle Prostate Institute. He is Board Certified in Radiation Oncology by the American Board of Radiology.
Dr. Nambiar has been an active contributor to multi-disciplinary tumor boards, and has led the department in incorporating Intensity Modulated Radiation Therapy (IMRT) into our treatment regimens. He has substantial expertise in computer systems and is playing an important role in converting the department to a “paperless” environment.
Dr. Nambiar has expertise in both Stereotactic Radiosurgery (SRS) and fractionated stereotactic body radiotherapy (FSRT) to sites within the brain and those involving the lung, liver, adrenal glands and the vertebral bodies. He now leads the department in developing a program for cranial and body sites. Other areas of interest include head and neck cancers and gynecologic malignancies.
