A native of Birmingham, Alabama, Dr. Bajaj attended Princeton University, where he majored in English literature. He then completed medical school at the University of Alabama, Birmingham, where he took Alpha Omega Alpha honors in addition to multiple other awards. Dr. Bajaj graduated from an internship at the Baptist Health Systems of Alabama. His residency and fellowship followed at the Mallinckrodt Institute of Radiology at Washington University, St. Louis, Missouri.
Dr. Bajaj has written numerous articles and presented papers on topics ranging from ultrasound, MRI and CT imaging and has written numerous textbook chapters. He has also authored articles on alternative medicine and ethical issues within the field.
Outside of his official duties, Dr. Bajaj is very active in volunteering his medical services, both in his local communities and internationally. Hi has given his services in regions as diverse as India, Ecuador and Bhutan, as well as closer to hime in Birmingham and St. Louis. He also volunteers in a non-medical capacity in multiple community-based organizations. He has written for, acted in, and directed theater productions receiving national awards for his work.
Dr. Bajaj has joined Staten Island University Hospital as the new section chief of Ultrasound. Having completed both his residency and fellowship at the Mallincrodt Institute in St Louis, he brings not only superb training in ultrasound, but a true passion for the modality and for patient care.
After becoming Board Certified in 2011, and completing a fellowship in Body MRI in 2012, Sanjiv Bajaj joined the Staten Island University Hospital faculty in 2012, where he serves as head of the ultrasound division. Additionally, he sustains a professional interest in multimodality abdominal imaging.
