    Physician Bio

    Dr. Bloom completed his medical degree at Queen's University in Kingston, Ontario, Canada, where he also completed his general surgery residency. Immediately following his training, he concentrated his focus on minimally invasive and colorectal surgery. Before joining the staff of SIUH, Dr. Bloom served as Chief of Surgery at The Richmond Hospital, British Columbia, and developed the institution's Minimally Invasive Surgery Program. He currently serves as Program Director of Staten Island University Hospital’s General Surgery Residency Program. He is an award-winning educator of medical students and residents.

    Dr. Bloom is Board Certified in General Surgery, is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons and the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada. He currently serves as Program Director of Staten Island University Hospital’s General Surgery Residency Program, and is an award-winning educator of medical students and residents.
