MYFOXNY.COM - Dr. Cynara Coomer, a Fox News contributor, went from joy to heartbreak in a matter of weeks. She had just had her first baby, Olivia, when she soon got the frightening news that she had thyroid cancer.

Thyroid cancer is a cancerous growth of the thyroid gland, according to National Center for Biotechnology Information . It can occur in men and women of all ages.

Dr. Coomer is chief of breast surgery and director of the Comprehensive Breast Center at Staten Island University Hospital.
