SIUH Receives Cancer Award

Kudos to SIUH Cancer Team

The Commission on Cancer, a subdivision of the American College of Surgeons, bestowed its Outstanding Achievement Award on the Cancer Program at Staten Island University Hospital.

The SIUH program is one of only six programs in New York State and 106 programs nationwide to achieve the award this year .

In a letter to Anthony C. Ferreri, SIUH president and CEO, the Chairman of the CoC, Stephen B. Edge, MD, FACS wrote, “The Achievement Award recognizes the outstanding effort and commitment by the entire SIUH cancer team from administration to all the clinical and volunteer staff.”

According to Frank J. Forte, MD, FACP, FAAHPM, Director of Medical Oncology/Hematology and Palliative Medicine at the hospital, we are proud to have received this award which confirms to our community the excellence of our Cancer Program.  The award honors the knowledge and commitment of the physicians, nurses, and support staff to whom we owe a debt of gratitude for their tireless work.
