As Olympics Open, SIUH Rehab Patients carry their own torch

As the Games of the XXX Olympiad get underway in London, 30 to 50 rehab patients recovering from strokes, amputation, head and other injuries at Staten Island University Hospital will participate in a torch ceremony of their own.

The patients, who are all receiving physical, occupational and/or speech therapies, will start their trek Friday morning in the inpatient rehab unit on the fourth floor. Carrying their own version of the Olympic torch and flags of all nations, the patients will descend to rehab’s first floor inpatient gym and cross the hospital’s connecting bridge to the Medical Arts Pavilion and Nalitt Cancer Services Center.

DATE: Friday, July 27
TIME: 11 am
