SIUH doctors cooking up fundraising events Sept. 19 and 21


Learn to cook and raise funds for 2 groups from Staten Island

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. -- The Staten Island University Hospital (SIUH) Service Auxiliary and New York State Women, Staten Island Chapter, will be jointly hosting a "Cooking Demonstration with Chef Stefano and Dinner with Wine Pairing" on two evenings, Wednesday, Sept. 19 and Friday, Sept. 21 at 7 p.m. at Bocelli's Restaurant, 1250 Hylan Blvd., Grasmere. The 'sous chefs' will be doctors from SIUH. On Sept. 19, they will be SIUH doctors Brahim Ardolic, chairman of Emergency Medicine; Eugene Holuka, medical director of Ambulatory Services; and Theodore Strange, associate chairman of Medicine and vice president of Medical Operations, South Campus.

On Friday Sept. 21, the 'sous chefs' will be doctors Cyanra Coomer, chief of Breast Surgery, director Comprehensive Breast Center; Jonathan Deitch, associate chair, Department of Surgery and chief of Vascular and Endovascular Surgeries; and Donna Seminara, director of Geriatric Medicine.

Each course will be from a different region in Italy and guests will receive the recipes and a goodie bag to take home.

Co-chairs of the event are Barbara Strype, president-elect, special events, SIUH Service Auxiliary and Marie Illuzzi, secretary of New York State Women, Staten Island Chapter.

Proceeds from this event benefit SIUH health and medical programs funded by the Service Auxiliary and will also support scholarships for women awarded annually by New York State Women, Staten Island Chapter.

For 149 years, the SIUH Service Auxiliary has provided funding for vital hospital health programs through creative fund-raising activities.

New York State Women fosters the success of women throughout the state. One of 60 chapters throughout the state, the Staten Island Chapter addresses the needs of professional women locally through networking, resources, advocacy, connections, inspiration, and friendship.
