Heart Stoppers: Go Red for Women

Because every 80 seconds in America a woman's heart stops and she dies, Staten Island University Hospital Northwell Health presents "Heart Stoppers," a free community learning and screening experience for teens to centegenarians.

Staten Island, NY – We'll be live at the Regina M. McGinn, MD Education Center 475 Seaview Ave, Wednesday, February 10 inviting ladies of all ages to stop by between 5 and 9 pm to join the conversation and get tested for free.

Screening choices include Lipid profile, A1C, EKG and Echocardiograms, Blood Pressure, Height and Weight (BMI), Waist Circumference.

We're asking women, "What would stop your heart? Heart Attack: Blocked coronary arteries strangling your heart's blood supply? Heart Failure: the heart not pumping enough? A fib: the heart beating irregularly? Congenital heart disease: An undiagnosed problem you were born with? Are palpitations something to worry about? Are there heart issues in your family? How do you feel?

We're giving heart to heart answers. Our cardiologists Dr. Howard Levite and Dr. Marcin Kowalski along with with Gela Mikalauskaus, Athletic Director of Moore Catholic High School, will answer the big questions: is heart disease stoppable with exercise? fish oil? aspirin? statins? diet? glutathione and more?

Participants are invited to ride the smoothie bike and enjoy a drink, buy a $1 Balloon, insert a heart wish and come out for the Balloon Launch on Friday, February 12 at the Heart Tower, North Site. Free door prizes, raffles and heart healthy refreshments.
