Trauma and Surgical Critical Care

Dr. Charles Fasanya comes to Staten Island University Hospital from Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, New Brunswick, NJ an ACS-COT accredited level one Trauma center. He worked as an Attending in Trauma and Surgical Critical Care.

Dr.. Fasanya was the Assistant Professor of Surgery at Robert Wood Johnson Medical school/UMDNJ. He com­pleted his Surgical Critical Care fellowship at Robert Wood Johnson Medical school/UMDNJ Camden, NJ in 2008.

He completed his General Surgery training at Harlem Hospital Center in affiliation with the College of Physicians & Surgeons of Columbia University in 2007. Prior to this, he received surgical training in Teaching hospitals in

London and Liverpool (UK) and became a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of England and Edinburgh in 1999 (FRCS)

He received his medical degree from University College Hospital, Ibadan, Nigeria. He was awarded certification in General Surgery and Surgical Critical Care by the American Board of Surgery in 2008.

Dr. Fasanya is looking to bring the skills and experience he has acquired in Trauma and Surgical Critical Care to Staten Island University hospital. His interests include Neurotrauma, Pancreatic trauma and Sepsis in critically ill patients. He is also an accredited ATLS (Advanced Trauma Life Support) Provider. Other interests include Laparo­scopic, Endoscopic and Acute Care Surgery.

Dr. Fasanya is a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of England and Edinburgh. A member of the American College of Surgeons, the Society of American Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons (SAGES) and Society of Critical Care Medicine.
