Professional Education - Introduction

Welcome to the Office of Academic Affairs at Staten Island University Hospital.  We are a valued member of The North Shore-Long Island Jewish Health System; the premier health network of Manhattan, Long Island, Queens and Staten Island. Our Health System includes 18 hospitals, making it the third largest secular, not-for-profit health system in the United States. We are also one of the largest clinical medical educational institutions in the country, representing the entire spectrum of training opportunities from each of the core disciplines through the entire range of the advanced fellowships.

In addition, SIUH supports hundreds of students from our affiliated medical schools on required clerkships, elective clinical rotations and experiences in basic and clinical research.

We are also in the process of opening our own medical school in partnership with Hofstra University. The Hofstra University-North Shore-LIJ School of Medicine enrolled its first class in September of 2011.
