MEDICAL WOMEN'S HEALTH

The focus of this department is clinical and translational research specific to health issues important for the care of women. Currently, the department is working in conjuction with the Biomedical Laboratories for Integrative Cancer Research (BLICaR) at the College of Staten Island, City University of New York to develop new methods to improve cervical cancer screening.  A novel staining method for the diagnosis of cervical cancer and pre-cancerous lesions has been developed and has led to the filing of a patent with Staten Island University Hospital as the sponsoring institution.
