After 14 surgeries to repair multiple birth defects, 10-year-old, Christopher Tullo knows all about overcoming obstacles. Tullo teamed up with his doctor, David Hoffman who heads up Staten Island University Hospital’s Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Department, to help kids in South America born with cleft-lip and cleft-palate. Each year, Hoffman and his team coordinate a charitable, surgical, mission to Colombia to provide care. With the help of his Boy Scout troop and school classmates, Christopher raised $800.00 and collected five bags of toys in support of the mission, making him Staten Islander of the Week.
