On Friday, December 20th, our fab five, the Ferrante Quintuplets, Staten Island’s first- and still only – set of quints, partied with their hospital family to celebrate their 5th birthday. Born December 27, 2008 after a 27-week, high-risk pregnancy, Alessia Louise (2 lbs), Amanda Frances (1 lb, 8 oz), Emily Ann (2 lb, 1 oz), Matthew Sabatino (2 lb, 4.5 oz), Ella Lilliana (1 lb, 15.5 oz) came into our world a media sensation. “The fact that they all turned out so well is like hitting the lotto. It’s definitely a reason to celebrate” said James Ducey, MD, director of Obstetrics and Maternal Fetal Medicine at SIUH. A special cake, created by local cake king Chef Biagio Settepani from Pasticceria Bruno, put the icing on the party. Build-A-Bear Workshop got involved as well, sending gift penguin birthday presents to this fabulous fivesome.
