Doomsday Prepping: Effective response to disaster events like Superstorm Sandy, the evacuation from Hurricane Irene, and the Ferry Crash of 2003 doesn't happen at the push of a button - it takes work. SIUH routinely drills disaster scenarios: preparing for the worst, so we can be at our best. The hospital conducted a mass casualty scenario in November, similar to Boston Marathon Bombing in April of 2013, that tested the hospital's ability to receive, triage, and care for a high-volume surge of patients.
