Heather McMullen, M.D., FACS
Associate Director

Dr. McMullen completed her B.A., in Chemistry at Amherst College, Amherst Massachusetts in 1986. She received her MD from Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons in New York in 1991 and completed her surgical residency at New York University, Bellevue Hospital, and Manhattan VA Hospital from 1991-1997.

Dr. McMullen is Board-Certified in General Surgery. She is a Fellow of The American College of Surgeons and member of the American Society of Breast Surgeons, Society of Endoscopic and Laparoscopic Surgeons, Richmond County Medical Society, American Medical Association, and American Society of Bariatric Surgeons.

Dr. McMullen is currently the Associate Director of Bariatric Surgery and the Director of Medical Student Education for the Department of Surgery at Staten Island University Hospital. She has worked at Staten Island University Hospital since 1999 and her practice includes: general surgery, treatment of obesity, laparoscopic surgery, and a special interest in the treatment of patients with diseases of the breast. Since coming to Staten Island University Hospital, Dr. McMullen has performed over 600 bariatric surgeries.
