Steven Schwartz, DDS

Program Director, Pediatric Dentistry

In the Pediatric Dental Residency Program, closely supervised dental residents specializing in Pediatric Dentistry (Dentistry for Children) are dedicated to providing optimum dental care in children from infancy through the teenage years, including those children with special needs. The pediatric dentists provide pediatric patients with the most up-to-date and thorough treatment for a wide variety of children's dental problems.

There is a strong emphasis on preventive dental care. Pediatric dental patients are taught proper nutrition and brushing and flossing techniques. The application of fluoride and sealants (clear plastic coatings) reduce the occurrence of cavities. All treatment is provided with a lot of tender loving care. For those children who are very young or extremely frightened of the dentist, treatment under general anesthesia is available.

Orthodontic treatment (braces) is available for those children with crooked and crowded teeth. (Eligibility for treatment is dependent on insurance coverage).
