Director, Pediatric Endocrinology

The specialty of Pediatric Endocrinology deals with the diagnosis and treatment of a wide spectrum of disorders of growth and pubertal development; disorders of the thyroid, adrenals, and other glands of the body, as well as the diagnosis and management of Diabetes. Some endocrine disorders may first be detected at birth, during childhood, or adolescence and early adulthood. In some cases, they may even be detected or suspected in the prenatal period.

The Division of Pediatric Endocrinology at the Staten Island University Hospital offers comprehensive evaluation and treatment for a variety of endocrine disorders. A Diabetes Management Team includes diabetic nurse educators, nutritionists, and pediatric endocrinologists.

Dr. Torrado completed her Fellowship in Pediatric Endocrinology and Metabolism at SUNY Health Science Center at Brooklyn, New York and is Board Certified in both Pediatrics and Endocrinology.
