Promoting Healthier Kids:

The Healthy Lifestyles for Kids program at Staten Island University Hospital promotes healthy lifestyles for children and their families, and addresses the risk and complications of obesity in children.

The program strives to prevent obesity and unhealthy weight gain in children from age 8 through 18, and is a comprehensive group approach that demands the commitment of parents, supported throughout by a team of health care professionals.

The Program includes:

  • Orientation session

  • Initial consultation and follow-up with a coordinating physician

  • Individual evaluations and care plans developed by the program’s psychologist, dietician, and physical therapist

  • Individual case coordination by a registered nurse

  • Six weeks of group counseling sessions/two hours per week with the psychologist, dietician and physical therapist

  • Ongoing support groups after completion of the program

Orientation Sessions are held throughout the year.

REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED TO ATTEND.
