Director, Pediatric Hematology-Oncology Staten Island University Hospital’s Children Cancer
Center provides diagnosis, treatment and follow-up for infants, children and
adolescents from birth to 20 years of age. The Children’s Cancer Center offers
a comprehensive and collaborative approach to the diagnosis and treatment of
Pediatric Cancer, following the guidelines of the National Pediatric Cancer
Study groups. The center is also equipped to evaluate, diagnose and treat blood
disorders such as anemia, thrombocytopenia, hemoglobinopathies, coagulation
disorders and many other blood related disease. Children diagnosed with sickle
cell disease at birth are referred to the Center for comprehensive evaluation
and treatment. The center offers outpatient and inpatient care, including
cancer chemotherapy, blood transfusions, factor infusions, gamma globulin
infusions and more. Dr. Potaznik is the Director of Staten Island University Hospital Children’s Cancer Center, based at the Sanford R. Nalitt Institute for Cancer and Blood-Related Diseases. Dr. Potaznik has over twenty years of experience in the field of Pediatric Hematology and Oncology. He received his Fellowship training at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center and is Board Certified in Pediatrics and in Pediatric Hematology/Oncology. He is a fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics and a member of the society of Pediatric Hematology/Oncology.
