Director, Pediatric Infectious Diseases

Infants, children and adolescents are seen for diagnostic and therapeutic services for proven or suspected infections, particularly those that are recurrent, severe or caused by unusual germs.

In addition, children with prolonged and recurrent fever as well as suspected or proven cases of Lyme Disease, Tuberculosis and Kawasaki Syndrome are seen after referral by their primary physician.

Specialized care is also available for infants born to HIV-positive mothers and for all pediatric patients with proven HIV infection. Inpatient services are provided on the Pediatrics Unit at Staten Island University Hospital.

Dr.Buonaspina serves as Director of Pediatric Infectious Diseases and is Board Certified in General Pediatrics and Pediatric Infectious Diseases.
