INPATIENT REHABILITATION
Inpatients at the Rehabilitation Center reside in a specialized unit which accommodates
63 persons. The unit is staffed with rehabilitation nurses who promote patient independence. Patients dress in their own clothes and are able to socialize when therapies are not in progress.
During the day, patients attend specific therapy sessions. In the state-of-the-art gym, patients receive occupational and physical therapy services ranging from ambulation training to homemaking skill development. Those who have difficulty with communication, reasoning, or swallowing are also seen by a speech and language pathologist daily. During one's stay at the Rehabilitation Center, case
managers engage in discharge planning with patient and family, as well as provide vital links to support groups and
community services.
OUTPATIENT REHABILITATION
Patients are discharged from the unit when they are able to function better in the community and inpatient services are no longer needed.
Rehabilitation therapy may not stop here, however. Outpatient services are also offered for those who have accomplished much as inpatients and need to continue to improve their skills and abilities.
The Outpatient Rehabilitation Department also offers many of the same therapies to patients who do not need daily comprehensive treatment. The department treats people who have had brain injuries, sports or orthopedic injuries, low back and neck pain while also treating patients with chronic conditions such as arthritis. Outpatient services also include a pediatric rehabilitation department, which offers an infant and early childhood development program.
PATIENT INVOLVEMENT
Patients and family members are an important part of the rehabilitation team, and participate fully in the process. Patients always remain the top priority, not only in design of our professional services, but in our consumer-focused amenities, such as fully-accessible
facilities, and computer scheduling of outpatient treatments, coordinated to save the patient repeated
trips for required therapy.
Patient involvement assures the personal nature of our rehabilitation programs, as patients and their families are educated to understand the diagnosis, treatment, and continuing care that leads to a return to independence.
