Clinical
Associate Professor of Medicine, SUNY Health Science Center at Brooklyn Dr.
Wetz, a native Staten Islander, graduated from SUNY Health Science Center at
Brooklyn (SUNY-HSCB) and was the class valedictorian of that year.
He completed his internal medicine training at Staten Island University
Hospital, including a chief residency year.
Dr. Wetz subsequently stayed on the faculty and was appointed Residency
Program Director in October 2004. He
is board certified in internal medicine and is a Fellow of the American
College of Physicians (ACP). During
his time at Staten Island University Hospital, Dr. Wetz has been awarded
“Teacher of the Year” as a chief resident (1999-2000) and three times as a
faculty member (2000-1, 2001-2 and 2005-6).
In addition to his role as Program Director, he currently serves as the
Associate Chairman and Director of Student Education for the Department of Medicine.
Dr. Wetz is also a Clinical Associate Professor of Medicine at
SUNY-HSCB. Dr.
Wetz is a member of the ambulatory care faculty; providing care to the
patients of SIUH’s ambulatory pavilion.
In this capacity, he is a preceptor for both residents and students in
the outpatient setting. A
passionate teacher, Dr. Wetz is fully committed to the education and
professional advancement of the residency staff.
He prides himself on his approachability and willingness “to always
