Gary Giangola, M.D. - Director

 

Dear Colleagues:

We are pleased to announce that Dr Gary Giangola, one of New York City ’s most experienced Vascular Surgeons, has accepted the position of Chief of Vascular Surgery and Associate Chairman, Dept of Surgery at SIUH.  Dr. Giangola comes to Staten Island after practicing Vascular Surgery for more than twenty years in Manhattan .  His academic background is from NYU where he both trained and remained in practice. After 12 years of practice at NYU which included being the Chief of Vascular Surgery at the Manhattan Veterans Hospital and Attending at Bellevue , he then led the Vascular Surgery Divisions at St.Luke’s-Roosevelt and Lenox Hill Hospitals .

His special expertise is performing carotid artery surgery under local anesthesia.  Dr. Giangola’s other areas of leadership are in treating the most difficult aortic aneurysm and lower extremity arterial revascularization cases.  He is also known for his treatment of Thoracic Outlet Syndrome and Arteriovenous Malformations including the Klippel-Trenauney Syndrome.  He helped develop a dialysis access program which has the highest vein utilization rates in the State.  Along with this experience he is also relocating his “ Park Avenue ” vein practice and personnel.
